Hello. I'm Andrew.
I'm a Canadian who moved to Cairo when I was 21 for what was supposed to be one year abroad. That was 1991. I'm still here, and I'm still finding reasons to stay.
Over the past three decades I've been a university teacher, a software developer, a language learner, a cross-cultural trainer, and a student of Egypt's ancient Christian literary heritage. These days I build software at Fluency Learning Apps and spend a lot of time reading Eusebius.
If you've landed here, you're probably trying to figure out who the person behind an email address is. Welcome. Pull up a chair.

Arabic Language Teaching
I've been learning Arabic for over 30 years, and I'm still at it. I teach what I've learned through online courses, a book on the essential skills of Arabic learners, and a blog about the journey. Fluency depends on what day it is and how much coffee I've had.

Custom AI & Software Solutions
I build tailored software solutions for businesses — integrating AI agents, automation, and custom tooling into existing workflows. Each project is different, which is the point. I work closely with clients to understand what they actually need, then build it.

Early Church & Desert Spirituality
Living in Egypt has given me a front-row seat to one of Christianity's richest literary and monastic traditions. I'm a serious reader of Eusebius, the Desert Fathers, and the Coptic contemplative heritage. This isn't just a hobby; it shapes how I see everything else.
Writing & interests →Some people I've worked with
Over the years I've provided services for companies, governments, schools, universities, NGOs, and everyday learners across Egypt and the Middle East.
