Teaching and Training

Shaping Futures: Innovative Education and Training for a Digital World

I have over 30 years of experience in teaching, training, and software development in a wide range of global settings. I am based in Cairo, Egypt.

Higher Education: I was a faculty member at the American University in Cairo Department of Rhetoric and Composition from 2014-2021. I taught freshman courses in writing, research, and critical thinking, and senior courses in Business Writing and Digital Rhetoric. I headed up the departmental program assessment committee, was co-coordinator for global migration/refugee course, and served on a campus-wide digital literacies committee. Having taught blended courses since 2015 (combining online and traditional in-class instruction), I was heavily involved in helping faculty transition to online instruction during the Covid-19 crisis, helping the university to continue functioning despite lockdown.

Online Course Development: I have published multiple commercially available online courses that have been purchased and used by over 1000 users since 2016.

Innovative Learning by Gaming: I led a development team for a Canadian-government funded project to create an educational game for Egyptian youth, teaching business management and entrepreneurial skills, which led to a nationally televised contest for youth.

Training workshops: I have extensive experience in conducting training workshops in a wide range of areas as diverse as videoconferencing for primary/preparatory/secondary teachers, presentation skills for tax authorities, software development for curriculum developers, legal communication for judges, cross-cultural adaptation for expatriate employees, and more.
